Signal Space

Prague has no shortage of world-famous landmarks. Millions of visitors come every year to admire Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces and centuries of history. Yet just a few minutes from Old Town Square, a completely different side of the city is taking shape one where architecture becomes a canvas for light, algorithms create art and technology transforms the way we experience culture.

Signal Space Prague is the largest permanent digital art gallery in the Czech Republic, occupying a renovated 19th century market hall in the heart of the city. Created by the team behind the internationally acclaimed Signal Festival, the venue brings together immersive installations, large-scale projections and interactive artworks by leading Czech and international artists under one roof.

Rather than displaying art on walls, Signal Space surrounds its visitors with it. Across multiple exhibition zones, light, sound, motion and artificial intelligence become artistic tools, turning every room into a different environment. The gallery’s signature Infinity Room featuring hundreds of precisely crafted crystal elements reflected through mirrored surfaces creates an optical illusion of infinite space, while the Immersive Space projection hall delivers one of Central Europe’s largest permanent 360 degree digital projection experiences.

Unlike traditional museums, the exhibitions are designed to be explored rather than simply observed. Motion sensitive installations react to visitors in real time, allowing every experience to unfold differently. The current programme features internationally recognised digital artists working with generative visuals, creative coding, light design and audiovisual storytelling, making Signal Space one of the few places in Europe where contemporary digital culture can be experienced on this scale throughout the year.

The gallery itself spans approximately 2,500 square metres inside Prague’s historic Old Town Market Hall, creating a striking contrast between 19th century architecture and cutting edge digital technology. That combination has quickly established Signal Space as one of Prague’s newest cultural landmarks, attracting both international travellers and locals looking for something beyond the city’s traditional museums.

A typical visit lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, although many visitors spend considerably longer moving between installations, revisiting their favourite spaces or capturing photographs from constantly changing perspectives. Every exhibition is designed as a multisensory journey where visuals, spatial audio and interaction merge into a single experience, making no two visits feel exactly alike.

For travellers searching for Prague beyond its postcard views, Signal Space offers something increasingly rare a destination where history and the future exist in the same building. It’s a reminder that one of Europe’s oldest capitals is also becoming one of its most exciting places for digital art and immersive experiences.
